I develop, analyze, and implement algorithms for solving difficult numerical optimization problems. Research areas include
- Quantum computing and sensing
- Particle accelerator operation/design
- Stellarator and tokamak operation/design
- Vehicle routing
- Derivative-free optimization
I am a lead developer for libEnsemble, a Python library to coordinate the concurrent evaluation of dynamic ensembles of calculations
I also develop methods for Interpolation-Based Composite Derivative-Free Optimization,
which are included in the POptUS: Practical Optimization Using Structure organization.
Recent projects:
I also co-chair the Argonne ACT-SO High School Research Program
